Eelke, isn't this more of a problem of the layout-files that are saved on disc and read-in when using ft_prepare_layout? I.e. all functions using layouts should have difficulty with it?

the hunch is that the units in which the positions are expressed are not normalized when using the .mat file. it could be that databrowser expect the units to be normalized. there may be an incompatibility between the scale of the axes in which the layout is to be plotted. look for a solution in ft_plot_topo
